NICEIC Approved Contractor

Commercial electricians in Hereford

The NICEIC Approved Contractor scheme covers the full scope of commercial work. It's the credential letting agents, facilities managers and insurers ask for. Our recent jobs range from shop lighting to the electrical installation of a plant room at a Hereford university campus.

Free written quotes and one point of contact in the office from first call to certificate.

Case study: university plant room

Our most recent large commercial job was the electrical installation of a plant room at a Hereford university campus, which is the kind of work the Approved Contractor assessment exists for. Distribution, containment and final connections, all tested and certificated to BS 7671.

It's a long way from a domestic fuseboard, and that's the point: if we can satisfy a university estates team, your office, shop or workshop is comfortably inside what we do every week. We also carry out ongoing commercial work for a large education centre here in Herefordshire, the sort of client that checks the paperwork properly and keeps asking us back.

Just finished: NMITE's new Centre for Innovation and Future Skills

Commercial and smart networked lighting throughout NMITE's Centre for Innovation and Future Skills at Blackfriars Campus in the centre of Hereford. Built by Firth Construction, designed by Arbor Architects, funded through the Towns Fund as part of Stronger Hereford, and opening this autumn.

The ceilings were the interesting part. Exposed timber vaults with steel tie rods, so there is nowhere to hide a cable and no plasterboard to chase into. Every pendant drop, every LED cove run following the line of the vault, and all the containment behind it had to be set out to the millimetre and first fixed before the finishes went on. Get it wrong and you are drilling a ceiling somebody has just spent months building.

We carried the electrical package for the building. All of the lighting, emergency lighting and small power was wired and installed by us, and the fire alarm, security systems and network cabling were delivered by specialist subcontractors working under us. That gave NMITE and Firth one electrical contractor to deal with instead of four, and one set of certification at the end.

What we do for Herefordshire businesses

Testing & compliance

Commercial EICRs, emergency lighting and remedial work. The paperwork your insurer and landlord actually ask for, issued by an NICEIC Approved Contractor.

Installation

New circuits, distribution boards, lighting, machinery supplies and shop or office fit-outs, quoted in writing before we start.

Fault-finding & repairs

A tripping board costs you trading hours. £90 covers the callout and first hour with a first-available response. Or put us on a maintenance arrangement and skip the queue.

Landlords and letting agents

A lot of our commercial work is portfolio work: EICRs across rented properties, remedials completed inside the 28-day window, smoke alarms fitted on the same visit, and one tidy invoice per property. If you manage lettings in Herefordshire, our EICR page has the details, or call us about block booking.

Commercial questions

What does "NICEIC Approved Contractor" actually mean?

It's the NICEIC's scheme for contractors assessed across the full range of electrical work, commercial and industrial included, not just domestic. Our work, premises, test equipment and certification are assessed by the NICEIC. For a business, it means the certificates we issue stand up to your insurer, your landlord and an HSE inspection.

Can you work around our opening hours?

Within our working week, yes. We plan noisy or power-off work for your quietest times and agree it with you in advance. Tell us your constraints when you book and we'll build the job around them.

Do you do commercial EICRs?

Yes. Commercial EICRs are priced per distribution board and circuit count rather than a flat rate, so send us a photo of your board(s) on WhatsApp and we can usually price it without a visit.

Can you take on regular maintenance, not just one-off jobs?

Yes, that's our reactive maintenance service: a callout arrangement with agreed rates for offices, shops and rented commercial property in Herefordshire.

Tell us about your site

Call or WhatsApp a photo of your distribution board and a line about what you need. Most commercial jobs can be priced from that.
