12V garden lighting with dusk and timer control, Hereford

12V garden lighting for a Hereford garden, to make it safer to get around after dark and to bring the planting to life at night. Small black spike spotlights sit low in the borders, among the plants and under the trees, with one more fixed inside a raised vegetable bed.

Running the lights at 12 volts rather than mains voltage makes them safer in soil that gets dug, watered and walked on. A photocell and a time clock control them, so they come on by themselves when it gets dark and nobody has to remember to switch them on.

The supply is on the fence: a weatherproof enclosure, a switch and an outdoor double socket, mounted on a timber batten with sealed cable entries. From there the cable follows the fence line and the edges of the beds, out of the way of forks and wheelbarrows.

Garden lighting, designed and installed.
