Advice from the van

How much does an EV charger installation cost?

A standard single-phase home charger, supplied and installed by us, is from £900. That includes the charger, the dedicated circuit, OZEV-compliant installation, notification to your electricity network operator and the certification at the end.

What pushes the price above “from”? Distance, mostly. A charger on the wall next to the meter is the easy case; a detached garage at the end of the drive needs an armoured cable run, and that run is priced by the metre and the digging. The other variable is your fuseboard: a 7kW charger is one of the biggest loads in a house, and an older board sometimes needs work before it can take one safely.

That second point is why we ask everyone the same thing: before you buy a charger from anyone, WhatsApp us a photo of your fuseboard and one of where the car parks. Those two photos decide most of the price, and they cost you nothing.

On chargers themselves: we are an approved Andersen installer, and Andersen is the one to look at if you care how the thing looks on your house. We fit other leading brands too and will say honestly which suits your car, your tariff and your budget.
